A Clean & Green Pakistan drive with the Youth Harmony Fest — clearing waste from the valleys and planting for the years ahead.
As part of the Youth Harmony Fest 5.0 chapter, Letszu joined a Clean & Green Pakistan drive through the northern valleys — collecting the waste that visitors leave behind and planting saplings along the roadside.
The tourism boom in the north has a cost. More travellers means more plastic, and the same meadows that draw people up the valley are the ones paying for it. Bag by bag, the group cleared what had been dumped along the routes and packed it out.
Alongside the cleanup came a plantation drive — young conifers handed out and planted where the slopes have been thinned. It is slow work with a long payoff, which is exactly the point.
We are grateful to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture & Tourism Authority for the transport and support, and to every volunteer who gave up a weekend to pick up someone else's litter. If you travel with us, please carry your waste back down with you. The valleys cannot clean themselves.
